Accessible datacenter and connectivity offerings, so that anyone can build their infrastructure reliably and, most importantly, affordably.
Backbone.direct operates AS50917, an independent network based in Amsterdam. We started because too much of the internet's core infrastructure is priced and packaged for enterprises with enterprise budgets. We think a hosting provider, a small ISP, or a network hobbyist deserves the same reliability without the markup.
So we keep the network lean: diverse upstreams, open peering wherever it makes sense, and pricing that scales down as naturally as it scales up.
Backbone.direct is operated by Typno · KvK 92140459 · RIPE ASN AS50917
AS50917 is allocated by RIPE NCC and Backbone.direct goes live from our Amsterdam core.
Five diverse upstreams, five 100G exchange ports, and hundreds of peering sessions, still run by the same small, hands-on team.
Redundant upstreams and peering, so one bad day for a provider isn't a bad day for you.
No-nonsense pricing that scales with you, from a first 100Mbit port to a full 100G.
Our peering, upstreams and BGP communities are documented on our NOC page, not hidden behind an NDA.
The people who configure the network are the same people who answer the NOC email.
On-net across four facilities, reachable from dozens of other Dutch datacenters via our interconnection partners.
